Most traders miss the fastest moves in the market —
not because they’re too slow,
but because they’re looking in the wrong place.
One of our community members, May, recently shared a strategy that’s clean, simple — and surprisingly effective.
We now call it: the Dragonite Strategy.
Why Dragonite?
Because like the Pokémon — it’s rare,
but when it appears, it’s powerful.
The setup only shows up a few times a quarter…
but when it does, the move can be explosive.
Here’s how it works:
May looks for stocks where:
✔ At least 20% of shares are being shorted (lots of traders betting the stock will fall)
✔ The company beats earnings and gaps up 3–5% on high volume
✔ Then she enters the trade right after the earnings drop — not before
If it beats and gaps up, she goes long for 5–10 days (or aims for a +15% gain).
If it misses and gaps down, she short-sells for 3–5 days.
The logic is solid:
When heavily shorted stocks surprise to the upside, short sellers panic — and start covering.
That forced buying drives the price even higher.
But May didn’t stop there.
She tested each stock on her list individually —
and created different stop loss and trailing exit rules based on how each one moves.
So instead of using the same stop loss for everything,
she adjusted her system to match each stock’s daily range and volatility.
She focuses on names like SMCI, NVTS, BYRN, and QBTS —
all relatively affordable, all high-potential for post-earnings moves.
